  1. This relatively simple pictorial silhouette has been very
  2. successful indeed. It is one of a series of 3 shots taken in
  3. rapid succession of the north bay at Scarborough.

  5. The camera was a Pentax ME Super with 70/210 Vivitar Series 1
  6. zoom - reasonable quality gear. Exposure was automatic, hence
  7. the silhouette in the late afternoon sun. Technically there
  8. are no problems although the left hand edge was printed in a
  9. little.

  11. The composition is a pleasing curve,  but what makes it 
  12. successful ? I can`t really answer, but I believe it is simple
  13. and strong, with little to gripe at.

  15. Other than club success, this shot was one of the  pictures
  16. chosen for a monochrome calendar - £250 - Won  £50  in  the
  17. monthly heat of a magazine competition,  then won the overall
  18. yearly prize in that magazine,  a Canon T90.  The picture had
  19. also appeared in numerous magazines.
